Plan Your Guilin Trip

Why Visit Guilin with PandaBro?

Guilin's landscape is so iconic that it's printed on China's 20 yuan banknote. Limestone karst peaks rise dramatically from emerald-green rice paddies, while the Li River winds lazily through what many consider China's most beautiful scenery. Our Guilin guides are locals who grew up in this stunning landscape and know every secret viewpoint and hidden village.

Guilin is best experienced slowly — cycling through rice paddies, drifting down the river, and staying in boutique hotels with mountain views. Our itineraries prioritize experiences over rush.

Li River Cruise — A Journey Through a Chinese Painting

The 83km cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo is one of the world's most beautiful boat journeys. As your boat glides down the river, you'll pass limestone peaks, bamboo groves, water buffalo, and traditional fishing villages. Our guides arrange the best boats (smaller, less crowded) and know the optimal departure times for the best light and fewest tourists.

Yangshuo — Adventure Meets Tranquility

Base yourself in Yangshuo, a charming town surrounded by karst peaks. Our favorite activities here include:

  • Cycling through rice paddies on quiet country roads with mountain views
  • Bamboo rafting on the Yulong River — more intimate than the Li River cruise
  • Rock climbing — Yangshuo has some of Asia's best limestone climbing
  • Cooking class — Learn to make authentic Guilin rice noodles and local dishes
  • Impression Liu Sanjie — A stunning outdoor light show directed by Zhang Yimou

Longji Rice Terraces — The Dragon's Backbone

A 2-hour drive from Guilin, the Longji (Dragon's Backbone) Rice Terraces are an engineering marvel built over 650 years ago by the Zhuang and Yao people. The terraces cascade down mountainsides like giant staircases, creating mirror-like reflections after rain and golden waves during harvest season. Stay overnight in a traditional wooden minority village for sunrise views.

Best Time to Visit Guilin

Spring (April–May) — Rice paddies are flooded, creating mirror reflections. Summer (June–August) — Lush green landscapes, but hot and humid. Autumn (September–October) — Golden rice terraces, comfortable weather. Winter — Misty landscapes with few tourists.
