Plan Your Sichuan Trip

Why Visit Sichuan with PandaBro?

Sichuan Province is China's most captivating destination — home to adorable giant pandas, the world's largest stone Buddha, mist-shrouded sacred mountains, and a cuisine so addictive it has its own UNESCO designation. Chengdu, the provincial capital, is also China's most livable city with a famously relaxed lifestyle.

Sichuan is all about experiences. Hold a baby panda, taste fiery hotpot at a local restaurant, watch traditional face-changing opera, and hike through cloud forests — all in one trip.

Chengdu Panda Base — Up Close with Giants

The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is the world's premier panda facility. Unlike zoos, this is a conservation center where pandas live in naturalistic enclosures. Our guides arrange early morning visits (pandas are most active at feeding time) and can include the behind-the-scenes "Panda Keeper" experience where you help prepare bamboo and clean enclosures. For the ultimate experience, we can arrange a visit to Dujiangyan where you can hold a baby panda (advance booking essential).

Leshan Giant Buddha — Colossal Stone Sculpture

Carved into a riverside cliff over 1,200 years ago, the Leshan Giant Buddha stands 71 meters tall — the world's largest stone Buddha. The best view is from the river by boat, which our guides arrange at the optimal time for photos. Combine with a visit to nearby Mount Emei, one of China's four sacred Buddhist mountains.

Must-See Sichuan Attractions

  • Mount Emei — Sacred Buddhist mountain with ancient temples and the famous Golden Summit at 3,077m.
  • Jiuzhaigou Valley — A fairyland of colorful lakes, waterfalls, and snow-capped peaks. Currently reopen after earthquake restoration.
  • Huanglong — Terraced travertine pools in vivid blue, green, and yellow. A UNESCO site near Jiuzhaigou.
  • Jinli Ancient Street — Chengdu's most atmospheric street for snacks, crafts, and evening strolls.
  • Wide and Narrow Alleys (Kuanzhai Xiangzi) — Historic Qing Dynasty lanes now filled with teahouses and boutique shops.

Sichuan Cuisine — The World's Best Food?

Sichuan cuisine is one of China's Eight Great Cuisines, famous for its "mala" (numbing and spicy) flavor from Sichuan peppercorns and chili. Our food tours take you beyond tourist restaurants to local favorites for hotpot, mapo tofu, kung pao chicken, and dan dan noodles. Don't worry — we can adjust the spice level!

Best Time to Visit Sichuan

Spring (March–June) and Autumn (September–November) are ideal. Summers are hot and humid but the pandas love it. Winters are mild and great for hotpot.
